Rouge Executive Board Profiles: Kate Mazza
“I am happy to have found a club that lets me not only do the things I know I love to do, but also experience so many other roles I had no idea I would also enjoy!”
Fashion and clothing have always been something that made Kate, a 4th year Management major with an Entrepreneurship Certificate, excited so when she saw the opportunity to offer some of her skill set to the magazine, it seemed perfect. She is now the Assistant Digital Content Editor which means she mainly does the graphics for social media and promotional designs but there are “no bounds to what you can do in this club and I was able to help make the shirts for the exec team this year!,” said Kate.
Kate believes that Rouge has given her the opportunity to meet and work with amazing people from all over campus.
“Many of those who dedicate their time to Rouge aren’t doing it for a resume booster or [as] something to list off on their LinkedIn— it is because they genuinely care about the creative spirit of the magazine and appreciate the work we are all creating together!,” said Kate.
She hopes that every Rouge member has the opportunity to get involved with something that they are interested in.
“I truly believe that so much can be explored through extracurriculars that isn’t provided in your everyday classes,” said Kate, who believes that at Rouge, you are learning real life skills and working to create a top-notch magazine.
One of the things that Kate has learned from Rouge is that it really does take a village: “This magazine requires such hard work from so many amazingly talented people. I am floored at the amount of passion that goes into each issue!”
Q & A with Kate Mazza
Q: What is your wardrobe staple?
A: Denim! Statement printed jeans, a denim jacket, embellished shorts— give me all of it!
Q: Go-to-outfit?
A: I truly live for the summer! And if you see me then, I’ll probably be in some fun shorts with a simple top and embellished belt! I usually alternate between platform sandals and white sneakers, but I would say both are a staple!
Q: Item in your wardrobe you’ll never give up?
A: My white Free People denim jacket! I wear this thing everywhere— it can be dressed up, down, worn to class, over a sweater— like wow! It has become such an integral part of my wardrobe.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Beach meets boho meets eclectic? I love to mix simple pieces with something with some personality!
Q: Do you have a favorite brand to wear or place to shop?
A: Urban Outfitters and Free People make really nice simple pieces, I love their basics lines! My favorite jean places for sure are Levi’s and Revice denim (really cool handmade denim)! I have learned that quality does matter so I try to save my money to buy pieces that will last!
Q: Beauty Staple?
A: Becca Highlighter— Champagne Pop if you want specifics! I have used this highlighter for years now and it’s always nice to just pop a little on your cheek or the corner of your eye to wake you up a little!
