Transitioning Summer Pieces to Fall: 4 Looks
It’s summerti—. Actually, it’s officially fall. Summer may have felt like it went by in a flash as we approaching the middle of the semester, but you don’t have to let go of it completely. As the leaves shift from green to a golden-red and a cool breeze passes by you, you may feel like it’s time to put away some of your favorite summer pieces. But wait! Although cooler temperatures are approaching, it’s time to adapt your favorite summer clothing to the changing season - not put them away for good. Before you feel compelled to toss on a sweatshirt or god forbid… socks and sandals, here are four ways to switch up your favorite summer pieces and transform them into fall outfits.
That’s The Tee: Short Sleeve Shirts
A great way to warm up your favorite short sleeve shirt is by throwing on a cardigan or denim jacket over it. While this is pretty simple it instantly adds character to your outfit, while allowing you to keep comfortable in fall. Layering is one of the easiest ways to level up your look once the temperatures start to drop. For this look, we have a black graphic tee with light-wash denim shorts and a fuzzy rust-colored cardigan.
Hey Shorty: Skirts/Shorts
Do you still want to wear your cute mini skirt or denim shorts after summer? No worries! Simply pair it with a chunky sweater that keeps you warm and allows you to still rock one of your favorite summer pieces. This skirt is paired with a cozy green sweater and a leopard print hair tie as an accessory.
A Twist on A Classic: Off the Shoulder Top
While an off the shoulder top is great in the summer, it can be harder to wear in cooler weather. A way to achieve this same vibe is through a cute button-up shirt. By exposing one shoulder or both you still get the feel of an off the shoulder top without sacrificing warmth. In this picture, we paired a floral-patterned button-up with a woven crossbody bag, light-wash denim shorts, and tortoiseshell sunglasses.
It’s All in the Lace: Tank Tops
Lace-trimmed tops are the trend that keeps giving. In order to wear your favorite strappy, lace tank top, you can simply layer it with a t-shirt underneath. In this case, a simple white tee was paired with a navy blue lace top, necklace, and the same leopard print hair tie from the last look.
These looks are only the beginning of possibilities when it comes to layering your summer clothes in the fall. Get inspired and get creative before you put those pieces away for good!
