Day-to-Night Outfits for The Girl on The Go

Do you have a busy day ahead followed by a night out with your girls and a race against time? Why not get two fashion forward looks out of just one outfit? Day-to-night outfits are intended to transition you from one occasion to another effortlessly and without having to completely change your entire look. Below are three different occasions with versatile looks to inspire the girl who is constantly on the go.

Occasion 1: Brunch to a Girls Night Out

Day: Spring calls for the perfect brunch outside to catch up with friends while enjoying croissants and tea. When it comes to brunch, I love to be comfortable, chic, and casual! A blazer paired with jeans is the ultimate statement piece to complete an overall minimal effort aesthetic.

Night: Spending all day chatting and trying to catch up on each other’s lives may lead to a spontaneous night out. Leather is a key ingredient when choosing a GNO outfit. Whether it’s a skirt, jacket, or pair of pants...It’s a MUST HAVE clothing item!  I usually go with a black leather piece and build a look from there.

Occasion 2: Networking Event to a First Date

Day: First impressions are everything when it comes to earning that summer internship you've always wanted and landing that dream job within your professional field.  I truly believe that “you are what you wear.”  Always look the part and showcase that you have a professional sense of fashion too!

Night: Finding the perfect outfit for a first date, or any date, can be a daunting task. There is nothing wrong with just a simple and clean little black dress, but this is the time to find your own style and wear an outfit that makes you feel beautiful and confident on the inside and out! I am currently obsessing over monochromatic fits. A simple guide to creating a monochromatic set is to first pick a color and play with the variety of tones of that color. Most importantly, have fun while styling and try not to match the exact color from head to toe.

Occasion 3: Casual Errands to a Cocktail Party

Day: Sweats are my go-to when I’m running errands or just lounging around while attending Zoom university. You can never really  have too many sweats. They can easily be dressed up with a trendy heel and dressed down with fire sneakers. Styling athletic sweatpants with a corset or bodysuit will give more of a streetwear vibe.

Night: The cocktail dress code first emerged during the Roaring 20’s and was latered coined by Christian Dior in the 1940’s. Typically cocktail attire is a dress above the knee paired with a heel and bold accessories. Switch up your sweats with a matching skirt and you’re good to go!

Styling versatile looks that will work for any time of the day is a vital tool to stay looking fresh. The formula is simple. Start off with a base piece (shoes, pants, top, jacket, etc….) and build around that by adding in colors that complement each other, as well as accessories. Pinterest is a favorite creative outlet to  use when in search of styling inspiration for an upcoming occasion. Next time you have more than one event planned for the day, try squeezing two looks in just one outfit. Not only will you be saving an outfit, you’ll be mastering the Day-to-Night transitional look in no time!
