A Chronically Ill Girl’s Guide to Bundling Up Fashionably
My favorite time of year tends to fall around the last four months, typically the ones that end in -er. I adore the cold weather and all the holidays that accompany it. I love to drink a warm coffee as the cold winter air wraps around me. It reminds me of a simpler time when I would sit in my school gym and sing Christmas songs. But now, I find myself overwhelmed with the stress of maintaining my grades and numerous final projects.
Unfortunately, my lovelorn admiration for the cold weather does not bode well for me. With a chronic illness, such as Lupus, it is the gift that keeps on giving. With my condition comes an entire array of side effects. Raynaud's syndrome, a condition triggered by frigid temperatures, affects the circulation in one's hands.
Comfort plays a significant role in how I dress; however, as a fashion enthusiast, I struggle with choosing comfort over style. Even though my outfits are not always suitable for the weather conditions, my health is a top priority. Therefore, I have compiled a list of stylish clothing options for braving the cold.
First off, gloves. Specifically leather gloves. These hand accessories are commonly regarded as a symbol of affluence and social standing. Although this perception may not have stood the test of time, gloves are a lovely addition to anyone's outfit.
Next, we have leg warmers. Yes, they are back and better than ever. These versatile accessories not only provide optimal leg insulation but also double as arm warmers, offering a multifunctional solution to combat the cold.
Lastly, let's talk about scarves, but not just any scarves - I'm talking about those circle scarves we all used to wear. Believe it or not, there are countless other ways we can rock this accessory and look exceptionally fashionable. Scarves have the power to transform our outfits and add that extra touch of style. Wear them on your neck or over your head for an extra bit of warmth. There are no rules when it comes to fashion, trust me.
No matter how bundled up you might be this winter season, you are guaranteed to look stylish doing it!
