What the Rouge Staff is Wearing this Spring

With spring in full swing, people are ditching their coats in favor of tank tops and shorts. With over 70 members, Rouge Magazine showcases a wide range of personal styles, and this season is no exception. From effortless basics to bold statement pieces, staff members are embracing warmer weather with looks that reflect both comfort and individuality.

Third-year journalism major Katherine Fivgas wears a denim jacket paired with a graphic sweater, jean shorts, and boots in one outfit, while wearing jeans and an “I ♥ NY” shirt in another. “I was in New York for spring break and I haven’t been since I was in middle school, so I wanted to take the chance to dress up cute with my friends and take pictures,” Fivgas says. Because it was still cold, she layered a jacket over a sweater to stay warm.

Fivgas describes her personal style as fluid and always changing. “I’m influenced by trends like everyone, but I appreciate comfort, so everything is usually pretty comfy.” Fivgas says her favorite piece of clothing is her boots because they are comfortable and “elevate every outfit.”

Serena Strommen-Stokes, a third-year Rouge member, chooses her outfits based on the vibe of the day. “My favorite piece would be my corduroy button-up jacket. It was once my mom’s from when she was in her 20s.” Strommen-Stokes describes her style as simple, fun, clean and cute.

Tess Minkewicz, a second-year advertising major and Rouge’s social content manager, is wearing an asymmetrical knitted white top with jeans and statement jewelry. “I chose this outfit because it’s the perfect combo for weather that can be all over the place,” Minkewicz says. “The sweater top is warm for when the mornings are cold, but also very airy in case it gets hot. It can also be dressed up with different shoes and jewelry or dressed down, which I like.” Minkewicz describes her style as “laid back with formal details.” “I love a good comfy outfit that can be spruced up or worn more casually. I would say my style has a lot of variability so it can depend on which mood you catch me in!”

Michaela Kokoska, a second-year advertising major, describes her personal style as timeless and classy. “Realistically, I’m in athleisure most of the time, however, I love to get dressed up when going to a fun dinner with my girls,” she says. In one of her outfits, she wore a simple white t-shirt with a green patterned shirt and strappy sandals while shopping in the West Village.

“I wanted something easy and moveable while also looking put together,” Kokoska said.

With so many styles and aesthetics, Rouge staffers are gearing up for summer in their own ways. As summer approaches, lighter fabrics, brighter colors and relaxed silhouettes are starting to take center stage. We can only imagine what our staffers will be wearing this summer!
