The Academy Awards 2026: The Standout Fashion Moments From Hollywood’s Biggest Night
On March 15, 2026, the red carpet was rolled out for Hollywood’s biggest night: the 98th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars. Audiences worldwide tuned in to watch A-listers in real time. While many viewers anticipate the awards themselves, others tune in early for one of the night’s biggest spectacles — red carpet fashion.
One by one, actors made their way down the carpet, showcasing their looks. For nearly a century — since the first ceremony in 1929 — stars have embraced glamorous, formal attire. What began as traditional “ball-style” fashion has evolved into a global showcase, with audiences now experiencing high fashion in real time.
Here are some of the most notable fashion moments from the 2026 Academy Awards.
Starting strong, best actress nominee Kate Hudson wore a custom bejeweled jade green gown by Giorgio Armani Privé, featuring a sweetheart neckline and peplum detail. She complemented the mint-toned look with Garatti jewelry, including a diamond necklace boasting more than 41 carats of green diamonds. The gown came from the designer’s spring/summer 2026 collection.
Best Actress winner Jessie Buckley stepped onto the carpet in a Grace Kelly-inspired look. Buckley wore a Chanel floor-length bubblegum pink gown with a contrasting red off-the-shoulder wrap neckline. The design served as a modern interpretation of the iconic Edith Head gown worn by Grace Kelly in 1956 — widely considered a defining moment of Old Hollywood glamour.
Teyana Taylor made a dramatic entrance in a custom black-and-white Chanel gown featuring a sheer bodice and a feathered skirt with an extended train. Styled by Matthieu Blazy, the showgirl-inspired look was paired with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. The appearance marked Taylor’s debut as a Best Supporting Actress nominee, capping off an awards season where her style consistently turned heads.
Amongst the night’s best-dressed couples, Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescal arrived in coordinating luxury looks. Abrams wore a shimmering navy blue two-piece Chanel set, featuring a crop top with a neck scarf and a skirt with scalloped edges. Mescal complemented her in a custom Celine ensemble, including a black cashmere wool jacket, white collared shirt, floppy tie and black trousers. They both accessorized with Cartier jewelry.
Last but not least, Pedro Pascal surprised audiences with a bold, jacketless look. He wore a custom Chanel ensemble featuring a starburst floral brooch made of silk and feathers. Designed by Matthieu Blazy, the outfit included tailored tuxedo pants, a coordinating cummerbund and glossy patent leather shoes.
As the Oscars continue to evolve, so does the fashion that defines its red carpet. From timeless Old Hollywood references to bold, modern statements, the 2026 Academy Awards proved that style remains just as important as the awards themselves — offering audiences around the world a glimpse into the artistry, individuality and creativity of today’s biggest stars.
