Rouge Executive Board Profiles: Julia Jack
“Rouge is, without a doubt, my favorite thing I've been a part of in college.”
Julia Jack is a third-year double majoring in Fashion Merchandising and Consumer Journalism, minoring in Spanish, and pursuing an Entrepreneurship Certificate-- on top of being the Director of Communications for Rouge.
Julia, or JJ as her friends call her, spends her time outside of Rouge cooking vegetarian dishes, running, or dancing in the crowd at a concert. “I am driven by my desire to explore the world, and I try to make every day an adventure,” says Julia.
When she first joined Rouge in 2018, Julia was the Social Media Director. However, her role has evolved and her current position as Director of Communications, involves handling marketing and events for Rouge.
I have loved seeing our organization and team grow through the years.
“For me, Rouge has been monumental as a creative outlet,” says Julia, who thinks it is so valuable to have a means of expression that is for yourself, not something that is solely for school or work.
“It is so meaningful to me to collaborate with like-minded creatives and produce a tangible manifestation of the process.”
Julia hopes that Rouge has allowed our members to express themselves freely and pursue creative energy to the fullest potential, and that Rouge serves as a reminder to our members to act boldly, not only in their day-to-day style choices, but in their lifestyle as a whole.
“I feel so lucky to be surrounded by a team that inspires me, challenges me, and encourages me,” says Julia, “We all push each other to be our best selves and that translates to the magazine as well.”
Being a part of Rouge has taught Julia that no dream is too big!
Q&A with julia:
Q: What is your wardrobe staple?
A: Statement jewelry pieces-- they make any outfit instantly chic!
Q: Go-to-outfit?
A: Any type of layered ensemble.
Q: Item in your wardrobe you’ll never give up?
A: My classic denim jacket with patches from all the countries I've traveled in the past 10 years! It serves as a roadmap for everywhere I've been and is so precious to me.
Q: Dream item you wish you owned?
A: An Alexander McQueen gown !!!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is definitely eclectic. One of the things I love about fashion is the ability to channel different personas and that is definitely reflected in my style, which is constantly oscillating on a daily basis. A common thread throughout my aesthetic is the implementation of color in my wardrobe. I have always felt inspired by color, and I would say my outfits are typically quite vibrant!
Q: Do you have a favorite brand to wear or place to shop?
A: Free People! Working there for the past two years has definitely allowed me to cultivate a huge appreciation for their brand and clothing, and I am so thankful for that. Nonetheless, never doubt the power of a Goodwill haul! A majority of my favorite wardrobe pieces are thrifted.
Q: Favorite designers?
A: Forever obsessed with Stella McCartney and what she stands for! I also really admire the work of Emilio Pucci and Paco Rabanne.
Q: Beauty Staple?
A: BLUSH!! Probably an unconventional answer, but I never leave the house to tackle the day without rosy cheeks.
