Hot Looks for the Hot Weather: Spring & Summer Runway Fashion Trends

All Spring/Summer 2021 fashion runway shows have come to a close, and with the weather getting hotter it’s time to start online shopping for that hot summer closet! Here are the best styles we saw on the runway to incorporate for a perfect wardrobe this season.

There were many common themes among designers this year, all seeming to extend and add new spins on trends we had been expecting, such as floral prints and bold hues. Designers like Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Miu Miu, and even Chanel all had their lookbooks filled with bright colors, halter tops, mini skirts and fun 90s and Y2K inspired outfits.

The baggy jeans and trousers trend is definitely here to stay, presented by Chanel, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton, to name a few.

The 90s slip dresses and halter tops are definitely in as well, adding a dash of nostalgia to the catwalks. The Y2K style is stronger than ever and was accentuated by Miu Miu on the last day of Paris Fashion Week. The mini skirt/halter top combo will be a trend you’ll want to take part in this season, as almost every show included some version of that look.

Funky patterns and bold prints are all the rage this summer. Warm color combinations like hot pink and orange were effortlessly styled together, creating looks that would surely make heads turn. These warm tones recently took center stage in Givenchy’s stunning lookbook. Show-stopping neon suits seen this season are reminiscent of 90s rave culture - Balmain really emphasized this look in his shows. We are excited to see how fashion followers will be adapting these new styles this season.

Summer is almost here and fashion inspiration has been served to help us look our best in the heat. As the vaccine is giving us hope, we are looking forward to a brighter, more normal, and more positive summer than last year’s. Stay safe, wear a mask, social distance, and look good while doing so. If you try any of these trends, be sure to show them off on Instagram and as always, tag @rouge.mag for a chance to be featured.
