It is no secret that podcasts have become the new wave of current information and entertainment with young people. As someone who is involved and interested in the fashion world, podcasts are a fantastic way to stay in the know about all things fashion. We broke down a couple of our favorite fashion podcasts into respective categories for your enjoyment! 

FASHION HISTORY 

Dressed : The History of Fashion 

Dressed is a fantastic podcast that delves into the complex and rich history of the way we get dressed and what it means. The podcast delves into all corners of dress and the fashion industry and is perfect for getting concise glimpses into different sectors of the clothing industry as we know it. It is broad in topics and has a little piece of history for everyone. 

Unravel 

Another in-depth fashion history podcast we greatly recommend is, Unravel. Hosted by two fashion scholars, the podcast prides itself in providing extensive discourse on the history of the fashion industry while straying away from traditional documented history. The podcast describes itself as being “on the ‘frontline’ of solidifying fashion history as a serious subject to study and learn. Our purpose is to be a conduit for understanding fashion and its place in the world in the past as well as the present”. 

FASHION BUSINESS 

Business of Fashion

The success of this fashion podcast is all in the name. The Business of Fashion is described on Apple Podcast reviews as being “indispensable,” “required reading” and “an addiction.” This podcast allows full insight into the nuts and bolts of the multi-billion dollar industry that we all of a hand in. By often collaborating with executives, creatives, and entrepreneurs in over 200 countries, each episode is rich with specialty information straight from the source that is hard to get anywhere else unless you are equipped with serious connections. Knowing the business is being in the business and this podcast is essential to staying in the so called “fashion loop.”

Girlboss Radio 

Many young fashion-involved individuals often want to be involved in the business world of fashion but often find the constant influx of logistic information as dry and dense. Luckily, a podcast like Girlboss Radio exists in which you are able to hear the direct stories of trailblazing entrepreneurs about navigating personal and professional curveballs in a ruthless industry. Similar to The Business of Fashion, you are getting a unique and informational insight into the industry while also forming a personal, raw, and inspiring connection with these powerful guests. The podcasts tells its listeners to “Expect hilarious, vulnerable, ~useful~ conversations that humanize the known, champion the unknown, and laugh a little at the absurdity of life.”

Sustainability

Wardrobe Crisis

This podcast is hosted by Vogue’s sustainability editor, Clare Press. On the show, Clare and her guests discuss the issues of sustainability, ethics, consumerism, activism, identity and creativity in relation to the fashion industry. The host is known for her insightful questions as she talks with guests and the way that she engages them on a more personal level as well. If you’re into learning more about sustainable fashion, this is a great podcast!

CULTURE 

Pop Fashion 

Looking for all things involving the culture of fashion? Search no further, Pop Fashion is the home to stay up to date on the happenings of all corners of the industry in a witty and analytical way. On the podcast, former vintage store owner Lisa Rowan and fashion stylist Kaarin Vembar discuss fashion news, pop culture, and questions about business and creativity. The episodes are chalk-full of the perfect mix of comedy and industry know-how. The show is truly a fun-filled way to feel involved in the fashion conversation.
