Coachella Fashion Wrap-up

Coachella debuted in 1999 and only had 25,000 people attend according to The San Diego Union Tribune. The show actually lost money, so the owners made the decision not to even hold the festival in 2000. However, they brought the festival back in 2001, and after a few years finally had a sold-out weekend in 2004. Today, the festival has an estimated 250,000 attendees and has transformed into a fashion landmark event, with every attendee showing off their own style.

Coachella 2023 saw the hottest trends of spring 2023 for headliners BLACKPINK, Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean. Although Coachella was unfortunately canceled in 2020 and 2021, concertgoers are ready for the second year back, bringing their hottest looks for the 22nd year of the famed festival. Of course, if you were paying at least $549 for a general admission ticket plus stay, food and drink, you should bring your fiercest looks.

Festival fashion is a spectacle. You can break away from your boring everyday work attire and show off your real style. There are no dress codes or rules to follow, which makes festival fashion one of the most freeing styles. In today’s culture, women are expressing themselves outside of conventional standards, and becoming more comfortable showing off parts of the body that we have been traditionally told to cover up.

Here are some popular fashion expressions worn by celebrities, influencers, and fashionable people at Coachella 2023.

Monochrome & Matching Sets

This is probably the absolute top trend from Coachella–monochrome crop tops and mini skirts.

Denim on Denim & Patchwork Denim

This trend has been around for a while now, but Coachella does it better. Denim is easy to pair with any color, but pair it with itself for a dynamite look.

Sheer & Barely-there Tops

This trend has been a festival fashion staple for several years, and it is not foreseen to be replaced anytime soon.

Loosely Knitted Tops & Crochet Netting

It's giving “Yes, Grandma; I did pay more for the holes.”

Butterflies

This accent piece on designs takes any outfit to the next level, giving it a whimsical and ephemeral appeal.

Barbie Pink

I have seen every shade of pink since the new Barbie movie was announced. Is Pink the new Black?

Chic Cowgirl

Maybe it’s just the boots, but she looks like a cowgirl to me.

Post Malone

And the best style over all goes to Post Malone who looks fabulous in his military inspired fit.

*This is certainly not an exhaustive list of all trends at Coachella, just the ones I saw the most throughout my research.
